FRANK ZAPPA Finer Moments (2012 UK 13-track double LP, originally compiled by Frank in 1972 & digitally remastered by Chris Bellman from that original analogue master at Bernie Grundman mastering. Technically a kind of 'Weasels' Vol II, this contains studio & live performances from 1967 to 1972, that actually build & flow in a much more satisfying way as four sides of vinyl, exactly as Frank first intended them to be. Yet more of the unreleased 'History & Collected Improvisations'material that Frank re-edited & recompiled after the original idea for the ten or twelve LP box set was shelved. Contains two mammoth live performances, the eighteen minute 'Uncle Rhebus' from The Ark in 1969 & the nineteen minute 'The Subcutaneous Peril' from Carnegie Hall in 1971, this is not a 'Zappa by numbers' greatest hits re-hash but a superb slice of the more involved & improvisational side of the composer's canon, deluxe gatefold picture sleeve with illustrated inserts. Both the sleeve & vinyl discs are heavyweight [small hairline split in the top edge as a result] & the vinyl is near mint)
