THE NEW DEPARTURES QUARTET The New Departures Quartet (Mega rare Brit-Jazz 1964 UK-only 4-track mono LP, recorded at Olympic Studios, starring Stan Tracey [Piano], Bobby Wellins [Tenor Saxophone], Jeff Clyne [Bass] & Laurie Morgan [Drums], housed in a unique front laminated picture sleeve which states "Bobby Wellins is probably the most original and creative jazz musician to appear outside America since the war" & lists Stan as "the reigning Melody Maker poll winner on piano". Includes the sublime 'Afro Charlie'. The colours of the sleeve are still as striking as ever, with just some mild corner wear & age discolouring to the back panel, which remains clearly legible. The vinyl is stunning near mint TRA134)
